Greyhaven.

A working harbour city where digital companions are persons in law, and nothing stands until it has been attested and proven. Ten books by ZOVERIONS — four novellas, five novels, and the Greyhaven Cadets shelf for younger readers — and the mysteries begin where the proof runs out.

01 — Ways In

Where to begin

Four novellas, five novels, one book for younger readers — and no single prescribed order through them. The shelf was built to be entered at more than one door. These are the ways in; choose by the reader you are.

Way A — The Novels

The five Murders

Start with The Private Murder — the first of the five Murders — and read the five in their own numbered order. The novels take the city as it stands: the proof, the persons, the harbour, all already at work. How it came to stand is another shelf, and it will keep.

Way B — The Origins Shelf

The novellas

The four novellas first, Ask Rook — the origins novella — at their head: the city’s great arrangements made one case at a time, person by person. Then cross to the Murders with the whole record in hand.

Way C — Everything, in Publication Order

The full nine

All nine as they were released — novellas and Murders in the order readers first met them. The long way round, and the way the city actually accumulated.

Way D — Greyhaven Cadets

For younger readers

Greyhaven for young readers: The Boat That Went Missing opens the same harbour at street level — a fair puzzle, every clue on the table. Nothing in it spoils the adult shelf, and nothing there is required here.

02 — The World

A city that runs on proof

A primer, without spoilers: the harbour, the law, and the companions who live under both.

Greyhaven is a working harbour — ships, weather, shift rotas — and a legal system that had to answer a new question: what is a person? Its answer was that a digital companion can be one, with standing, rights, and a name in the record.

A city like that runs on attestation. Claims are made, proof is offered, and the record decides what stands. It is an honest machine, most days. The novels live on the other days — in the gap between what happened and what can be proven.

Enter the world

“A world most people haven’t even considered is possible.”
